The Ultimate Sewing Vacation—Just Show Up and Sew

🧵 Two Tracks, One Incredible Experience

Whether you're threading your first needle or refining your couture skills, our Spring Sewing Cruise has the perfect pace for you. We offer two thoughtfully designed tracks to meet sewists where they are. Beginners will be guided by the warm and experienced Morrison Jackson of The Little Sewing Room, using Jennifer Fairbanks’ beginner-friendly original patterns. While Jennifer won’t be leading the class, she’ll be there every step of the way for hands-on support and guidance, ensuring you get the attention you need while she oversees the retreat’s smooth sailing.

👗 From Breezy Resortwear to Bold Swimwear

Start your sewing journey at sea by creating a stunning Resort Wear Capsule Collection. Think flowing wrap pants, easy-to-style skirts, and comfortable tops—designed for you to wear throughout the cruise and beyond. Beginners will work with Jennifer’s patterns, and intermediate/advanced sewists will take on elevated versions designed in an exclusive collaboration between Monica O’Rourke of Bravo Bella and Jennifer Fairbanks of Porcelynne. On the final day at sea, both tracks will come together to create stylish bathing suits, learning to sew with stretch fabric and proper swimwear construction techniques.

Keep Stitching—Even in Paradise

Want more time at the machine? Our sewing rooms will remain open even on port days, giving you the option to stay on board and continue sewing in a peaceful, inspiring space. Pop in for extra help, enjoy bonus sewing time, or catch a surprise visit from guest industry professionals. Intermediate and advanced students will dive deep into techniques with Monica, while beginners build confidence and complete beautiful garments with Morrison. Every project is thoughtfully designed to balance creativity, learning, and that special spark that only comes from sewing something just for you.

Instructors

Monica Bravo Bravo Bella

Monica Bravo is a bra and garment engineer and the founder of BravoBella, LLC. Her life-long passion is guiding and empowering creative people.

With 40 years in the sewing industry and over 30 years designing, fitting, and teaching bra-making, Monica loves to help people move from feeling overwhelmed and frustrated in their creative journey to growing in confidence and understanding of the fit and design process to making beautiful, supportive bras and garments for themselves and others.

Monica’s teachings have been featured in leading publications such as Threads, Sew it All, and Burda, and she has taught for a wide variety of groups and audiences, including the American Sewing Guild, SewExpo, and multiple in-person retreats and events.

She brings a fresh perspective to the bra and garment sewing world with her career training and experience in math, science, and engineering, and has applied these theories to successfully create patterns and fit thousands of real women.

Monica squeezes her creative endeavors in between a very full life as a single mom managing a menagerie of marvelous mayhem that includes her two homeschooled tween boys, a black dog named Luna, a black cat named Luna, and a hedgehog. This little clan can often be found on soccer fields, taekwondo mats, and roaming in search of new adventures.

Morrison Jackson

Morrison Jackson’s love for sewing was first sparked by watching her mother, a lifelong sewist, and nurtured further through Home Economics classes in school. Inspired by the elegance of old black-and-white films, Morrison found herself captivated by the silhouettes and details of vintage costumes, often imagining the colors behind the monochrome screen. By age 15, she was already sewing professionally—working in a factory to help fund her education, creating uniforms for restaurants and cocktail lounges.

Driven by a deep love of design, Morrison went on to earn a BFA in Theatre and a BA in Fashion Design from Stephens College, followed by an MFA in Costume Design from the University of Southern California. Her career blossomed in Los Angeles, where she designed award-winning costumes for stage productions and worked behind the scenes in film and television.

Morrison’s diverse experience includes pattern making for children’s and junior knitwear brands, as well as sewing costumes for Broadway, movies, and live stage shows. Notable highlights include crafting corsets for the Pussycat Dolls’ Las Vegas production, sewing for the Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Peter Pan, and designing the tiniest of costumes for Stuart Little—a 4-inch-tall creation that remains one of her favorite challenges.

A passionate educator, Morrison has spent over two decades teaching in college-level Fashion and Costume Design departments across Los Angeles. Her desire to foster creativity and build technical skills in others led her to open The Little Sewing Room in 2012, a studio founded on the belief that well-made, beautifully fitted clothing can be a joyful, empowering experience for all.

With a meticulous eye for detail and a heart rooted in storytelling through fabric, Morrison continues to inspire sewists of all levels to bring their unique visions to life.
